Meet the team
Sandra Walker
Office Assistant
Sandra joined the team in November 2018 after spending 12 years working for a drainage contractor. She works alongside Debs, managing customer and supplier accounts and helping with office admin (with more than 6,000 industrial hoses, fittings and associated parts in stock, there’s rather a lot of it!).
Sandra juggles her part-time work with Cotswold Hose & Fittings with being mum to three young children, studying for an accounting qualification and fundraising for Cancer Research UK.
Andy Ramsey
Sales Manager
Andy worked in the garage equipment industry for 16 years, with both BP and Castrol, and spent nine years in sales, service and project management in the refrigeration business. He joined our expert team of technicians in November 2018 and thoroughly enjoys helping customers solve their hydraulics, aquatics and pneumatics challenges.
Outside the office, Andy is a keen rugby man – mainly off the pitch these days – and loves keeping fit (when his body lets him!) and the occasional skiing trip.
Nigel Scrivens
Sales Adviser
Nigel joined us in 2020 and spends most of his time among the 6,000 hoses, parts and fittings in our warehouse, or talking to customers. Before joining the business, Nigel ran Cirencester pub, the Plume of Feathers (now the Bee’s Knees) for 12 years, then worked for a local brewery – so he appreciates the regular hours of his current job!
A keen rugby fan, Nigel played for Gloucester Rugby for 10 years back in the 80s. He jokes that he now spends his spare time doing as little as possible, though his two-year-old granddaughter keeps him on his toes.
Deb Smidt
Managing Director & Co-owner
Debs manages the team, oversees our finances and marketing, and works with Jan on business strategy. Debs and Jan inherited the business from Debs’ mum and stepdad in 2013.
Debs loves the outdoors and walking their spaniel, Pepper Potts, who takes her job as company mascot very seriously, and can be found in the office most days!
Jan Smidt
Director and Co-owner
If you call by our Cirencester trade counter or call us on the phone with a problem that needs solving, you’ll probably speak to Jan. Debs’ partner – in life, not just in business – joined Cotswold Hose & Fittings almost a decade ago, and specialises in creating tailored systems for our customers.
Jan spent his early years in the business working closely with our founder, Ian, and gaining the encyclopaedic knowledge of industrial hoses and fittings he uses today. Combined with his logical approach to problem-solving, you can rely on Jan to find a solution for you.
